16th April 2017
April in Coffs has been beautiful-we dodged the end of the cyclone and enjoyed awesome weather. Simon and Susannah celebrated their big day on the 1st tee at Bonville Golf Resort and she looked amazing-Simon’s nerves completely eased when he saw her and when they exchanged their personal vows. Ben and Bec had been planning their wedding with me for at least a year and it was different for me as they had their close friend, who is experienced with funerals and is studying to be a Marriage Celebrant, conduct the ceremony. I did the legalities and enjoyed sharing the stage with Mat who did a great job. I did then go to another special wedding that was organised in 3 days. A shortening of time is rarely given but circumstances here for the ill father of the bride allowed this. I had a connection as I had conducted the fathers wedding 3 years earlier. I was honoured to be asked to wed his daughter at his bedside. What an emotionally packed ceremony but so special. His daughter was so happy to have her Dad formally give her away and give a special speech. Easter has seen me marry a great young couple at Lowanna. Another connection through knowing the father of the bride as a friend and the mother, who I had the honour of marrying to her beau a few years ago meant I felt like a family Celebrant for sure! Set against a flowing creek and a scene best described like an enchanted forest, they said I do in a small and intimate family wedding with the party being a week later to celebrate with all their friends-what a great idea! The rest of April will take me north beyond Corindi and even further to Grafton!
