The wedding season has hit and Feb is it! Part 2!

I absolutely loved Valentines day-Luke and Stasha stood in front of their family and friends in their gorgeous home at Moonee Beach and were excited to declare their already truly committed relationship in front of everyone. They had great relatives and I particularly¬† liked Nanna who helped pull the day together! After that I joined David at Gurus restaurant in Coffs Harbour where we were all excited to be part of their small and intimate wedding. Jaycee rang me and I quickly popped out to see her in a beautiful blue gown and she was so excited to join us all and make her vows and commitment to David ¬†followed by a meal at Gurus of course! I then had an extraordinary wedding and by that I mean completely different for me with a couple who have migrated here from Afghanistan. I was treated to a beautiful setting in their home¬†that included candles and fruit and decorations around other special significant items as well as two glasses of juice at the top of this “tower” in the loungeroom,¬†alongside a cake. Visitors arrived and we all sat down and then music started. Two of the men started dancing-I was completely unaware of how this was going to roll out but that also made this so special. Next thing I was invited to dance and there was much clapping and cheering and ululation (the high pitched sound made by the women with¬† their tongues). After the ceremony the couple drank their juice and fed each other cake. It is not appropriate to “kiss the bride” as we usually do.¬†I am told that they will have a much bigger celebration with family and friends in the future. I really enjoyed how culturally different this was to how we usually conduct Australian ceremonies!

I then had the pleasure of marrying a great couple from Victoria. Pattyie had always dreamt of marrying the love of her life in Sawtell and even with the latest heavy rains, their spirits were not one bit dampened. In a small but really meaningful ceremony they celebrated their day and partied on afterwards with their local and interstate guests. I am sure Pattyie and I would of being firm friends if I had met her when she lived here in Coffs Harbour! I was then excited to meet another couple for the first time after many emails and calls from Canada, Kaja and Martin with their gorgeous boy who had a beautiful ceremony at a Sawtell home and they included family abroad by skyping their ceremony! No pressure- only kidding!!I love witnessing love and everyone involved loved seeing these two marry. The weather played havoc  for Brenton and Renae as well as they had their day planned at the Jetty. They had to make a decision and they chose Opal Cove and with all their decorations set , it looked beautiful. They had lots of guests and their heartfelt ceremony had all our emotions running high. Again, so lucky to share in all these weddings and looking ahead to a great year of being in the front row seat!
